Come one, come all … or whoever has enough energy! We gladly welcome any and all volunteers this Saturday, October 4th!
Fall is here despite our Indian Summer weather, which has shriveled some of the plants. Therefore, a little watering is in order. Yes, a little, due to the drought. Just enough to give them a good little drink. Maybe Mother Nature will have an about-face and drop a few inches of water on us in the next week or so. We can hope!
As always, general maintenance is in order. This include sweeping, some pruning, some tidying up wherever you see fit.
Barbara and I are speaking with Mark about new plantings for the Lower Plaza and the sloped area that is constantly being trampled. Something sizable, something prickly, something that will make the intruders think twice. We are also working on signage for this area and others, with messages asking that the exercisers and walkers kindly stay on the paved areas.
Good news! We have ordered t-shirts promoting the Cascade! We should have them by November’s work day if not sooner. Put your thinking caps on … we need to figure out where to sell them. The Lakeshore Ave. farmers’ market? Is $20 each too much? If they sell out, then more can be ordered. The money raised will certainly come in handy as we think about fall bulbs, new tools, etc.
