When it comes to community involvement and concern for her neighborhood, Barbara Newcombe is the poster person. She has been a fixture at the Cleveland Cascade for almost 10 years now, coaxing not only the plants to bloom but also the volunteers to give their best.
This week, Barbara received the Jefferson Award from local TV station KPIX. I know I’m speaking for everyone when I say that it couldn’t have gone to a better person.
The Jefferson Awards for Public Service were created in 1972 by the American Institute for Public Service as “a Nobel Prize for community and public service” in the United States. The awards are given at both national and local levels.
