The following photograph and caption appeared in:
Gilkey, Howard, “The Role of the Landscape Architect,” American Landscape Architect Vol. IV, No. 3, March 1931, pp. 36-38.

“Cleveland Cascade, Oakland Public Parks, Oakland, Cal. The electric lights behind the shells are arranged in spectrum sequence. Howard Gilkey, landscape architect.”

We have since found that this photograph was included in a photomontage of Gilkey’s works in the 1928 Oakland Tribune Yearbook, page 80. We do not know how much earlier this photograph might have been taken.
